G 501 Yarn Inspection Winder

For visual appraisal of yarn cleanliness and regularity. Periodic defects are sharply revealed.
  • Standardized coil spacing

  • Uncomplicated determination of periodic irregularities

Yarn inspection winder

Winds the yarn according to ASTM Standards so that periodic thick and thin places, periodicity and regularity of yarn can be visually appraised. A motor draws the yarn from a bobbin and winds it on the board with regular coil spacing.
Coil spacing is adjustable to ASTM Standards by shifting a rubber drive belt resp. inverting the pulleys as follows:
0,67 mm for metric yarn numbers 54      - 110
1,00 mm for metric yarn numbers 28      -   54
1,25 mm for metric yarn numbers 12      -   28
1,80 mm for metric yarn numbers 5      -   12
2,30 mm for metric yarn numbers 1,7   -     5
3,20 mm for metric yarn numbers 1,36 -     1,7

Uncomplicated revealing of periodic irregularities.
Periodic thick or thin places in the yarn are revealed by a moiré pattern seen it one or more places on the board. Periodicity of a fault is measured by the vertical distance between two peaks of the moiré pattern. This distance corresponds to the perimeter of the roller causing the fault.
Yarn Inspection Winder G 501 winds the yarn on a 60 cm long and 16 to 26 cm wide black or white aluminum board. The left clamp has an axial spring for quick fixation and release of board. After visual appraisal and measuring of periodicity, the yarn is removed and the board can be used for the next test.

Reliable motor drive.
A 220 V AC geared motor (50/60 Hz) drives the board and a lead screw which in turn drives the traversing thread guide. The thread guide holder disengages from the lead screw when a spring lever is actuated so that it can be set back by hand to the starting position on the left. The motor switches off automatically when the thread guide reaches the end of its traverse. The instrument is supplied with electric cord fitted with a plug.
