G 556 Staff Tester

Know how a yarn will run on the machine before even starting with processing.

  • Simulates running characteristics of spun yarns and smooth plied yarns
  • Measures accurately abrasion and breakage tendency  BEFORE further processing
  • Makes visible risks in processing and thus permits precautionary measures

G556
Predict accurately, how a yarn or plied yarn will run on the machine.

Friction at the thread guides and at other deviators or deflectors of the operating machine modifies the surface structure of yarns. This abrasive process causes wear and roughness. Consequences on manufacturing performance and on quality of the finished goods are negative.
Thanks of the Staff-Tester G 556, the effects of this abrasive process can be predicted exactly before further processing begins. The Staff-Tester even detects and demonstrates slight yarn damages in evenness or strength. Thus it is possible to optimize yarn quality already during manufacturing. Risks in the yarn processing can be detected early and eliminated.

True simulation of the stress on the yarn
Both thread- to- thread friction and thread- to- metal friction can be simulated.
Coiling point and rollers Thread- to- thread friction: The yarn to be tested runs with constant tension via the hysteresis brake into the tester. The thread is guided over two easy- going rollers in such a way, that the running-in section coils around the running-out section over an angle of approximately 180 degrees. At this coiling point there is intense thread to thread friction.
Thread-to- metal friction: Various metal or ceramic elements can be placed into the running path of the thread. This is done by simply exchanging the carrier plate above the funnel.

Measures abrasion tendency

A funnel below the coiling point collects the parts rubbed- off from the yarn or finish. The built-in blast exhausts the dust into a small, easily removable filter.

Detects end breakage tendency

End breakages seriously disturb production during further processing. End breakage tendency can be predicted more reliably with the Staff- Tester G 556; for instance, more reliably than with strength tests.

Test the roughening tendency with the Hairiness Tester G 566

In addition the roughening tendency of the yarn can be tested without much extra work. The hairiness increases due to the friction in the coil. This increase can be determined by means of the Hairiness Tester    G 566, which can be directly linked up to the Staff- Tester G 556.

An indispensable accessory: Analytical Balance CP 64

In order to weigh the yarn and/or finish rubbings a highly accurate analytical balance with a reading of min. 0,1 mg is required.

CP 64 has an extremely fast responding and accurate electronic
display. Reliable results at every place of installation, electronic vibration absorption, automatic calibration and windscreen.
