The Advantages: Precision reel with absolute circumference accuracy, tested according to DIN 53830. Yarn clamps at the zero bar. High-precision articulated spokes with automatic spring retention for absolute circumference accuracy.
- Constant thread tension. There are three different pretensioning devices to choose between depending on the degree of precision needed:
- conventional tensioning bar
- yarn tension balance with tensioning bar
- individual compensation tension units
- Draft-free reeling by means of an electronic controlled
d.d. geared motor (smooth acceleration and deceleration, exact positioning of the reel).
- Absolutely parallel reeling by means of an exact feed mechanism.

L 232
Motorized Yarn Reel is a precision testing machine for measuring the length of yarns for the determination of yarn count. Maximum importance needs to be placed on the following points, especially when comparing quotations:

The precision of the
girth (circumference) of the swift, the main essential for accurate
measurement.

The swifts of our reels are
aligned with pinpoint accuracy using a special precision apparatus.

To hinge down the
zero-reset arm (spoke) of the swift we have developed a
sophisticated hinge that has proven to be successful for many years now,
operating very precisely with no sign of wear.

Competitors’ reels which employ pegs or push rods are soon worn out resulting in the arms of the swift becoming loose. Precision length measurement of the hanks produced is then no longer possible.

Precise parallel wrapping is achieved by a lateral traverse
of exactly 1.3 mm per re-volution of the swift at maximum speed (or 3.2 mm in a special version for carpet yarns). The yarn traversing mechanism always runs at a constant speed controlled with its own drive motor whilst the rotational speed of the swift can be varied by rotating a control knob. This control knob allows for the adjustment of yarn distribution on the reel dependent upon the yarn diameter. This prevents the overlapping of threads. |

The tensioning device, another essential feature for precision measurement. We can supply our reeling swifts with three forms of tensioning device:
1. Simple capstan tensioner. |

2. Thread tension sensor with capstan tensioner (most widely used form). This compensates thread tension variations within a limited range. Thread tension variable 0-100 cN. The thread tension is represented as the mean from the practicable number of threads.

3. Single-thread compensating tensioners for
measurement of maximum precision (Used especially for man-made
fiber yarns. These compensate different tensions in yarn withdrawal. Thread tension variable 0–200 cN.
We find that tensioning devices are virtually absent from competitors‘ machines. At best there is a simple capstan tensioner without any means of compensating tension peaks in the yarn packages. As a result precise determination of yarn length is doubtful to say the least.

| Motor control:
A sophisticated electronic control system, in association with a d.c. geared motor, provide strain-free reeling. The motor accelerates and decelerates smoothly and positions the swift with
millimeter accuracy. Swift speed is variable from 70 - 250 rpm.

Competitors‘ machines mostly have simple unregulated drive mechanisms. The swift starts „jerkily“ and stops similarly, without the benefit of smooth acceleration and deceleration. This puts strain on the yarns being measured, another source of errors in measurement. Please note that precise skein lengths are very important for exact determination of yarn count. An electronic balance of maximum precision is worthless if the length of the skeins is not exact. Zweigle provides you with the world’s best skeins. The working life of these machines is unique. Once you have acquired the L 232 it will be decades before you need to replace it. Our testing machines are world leaders in quality. Their designs are intended for the hardest use and they have a long working life. It is only natural that testing machines such as these are rather expensive but the extra cost is very soon recovered.
